Who is this guy anyway?
One could argue that “Narrative Designer” is the most poorly defined title in the game industry, but it’s also probably the most accurate name we have for what I do. If being a Game Writer is like being the lead singer of the band, being a Narrative Designer is being the lead singer who also plays rhythm guitar. I may not be playing the face-melting solos, but I'm strumming.
A bit of a renaissance man, I have a broad skill set spanning both creative and technical. From story arcs and game design to branching dialogue and implementation, I’m a highly capable multidisciplinary powerhouse who considers every level of the player experience as I craft content.
Whether I’m part of a strike team or leading the charge, I’m a collaborator first and foremost with the utmost respect for the expertise of those in other disciplines. I also believe that narrative has a uniquely high level of responsibility to the rest of the team to produce excellent work, since it has such a huge impact on how the rest of the game is perceived and experienced, and I take that responsibility seriously.
I’m also an experienced VO Director who knows how to draw the best performance out of an actor by creating an atmosphere of play, creative safety, and respect.
